Overview
SUNY Oneonta’s Digital and Studio Art degree will give you a strong foundation in basic drawing, design and digital skills, as well as training in art history and the critical language of art. If you choose to focus on digital art, you’ll start with a foundational computer art course and then explore 3-D animation, digital video, web design, digital print, graphic/publication design, 3-D modeling, digital photography and illustration.

Art Facilities
The Art Department has a range of spaces to support your creativity – whenever it strikes! Students have card access to art studios outside of class time. Art facilities include:
Art Galleries
Two professional art galleries on campus, the Martin-Mullen Art Gallery and the Project Space Gallery, host a variety of exhibitions. Students may submit work in the Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition and may also apply for solo or group shows throughout the year. The university’s student-run literary magazine, Art and Scope, also offers opportunities for students to publish their artwork.
Hands-On Learning
The Art Department’s internship program offers the chance to earn college credit while working in a professional setting. Qualified juniors and seniors can earn 1 to 15 credits by working at a business or organization related to their field of interest. During an internship, you’ll gain first-hand experience in the day-to-day operations of businesses, corporations, galleries or schools – and internship experiences often lead to jobs after graduation.
Scholarships
Students majoring in Art and Design are eligible for a number of dedicated scholarships including:
- The Jean Parish Scholarship: distributed by the Art Department through a competitive process every fall semester. Art majors who are already enrolled in the program are eligible to apply during or after their first semester. Several nonrenewable awards are distributed for the academic year.
- The Carrie Krumholtz-Liebman Scholarship for Art Majors who study abroad for a semester. It is available through the Office of Global Education.
- The Minnie Ann Martin & James Mullen Scholarship for incoming Digital and Studio Art Majors is distributed by the Financial Aid once upon admission.
- The Lloyd Terrence Kennedy Scholarship for incoming Digital and Studio Art Majors is distributed by the Financial Aid office upon admission.
