Overview

SUNY Oneonta’s Criminal Justice degree has a “criminological” focus, examining the ins and outs of the criminal justice system and concentrating on the causes and consequences of crime, community relations and the analysis of criminal justice policy. Recent graduates of the program are pursuing careers or further study in fields such as law enforcement, corrections, forensics, security and crime policy.

Hands-On Learning

Many Criminal Justice students do internships in the local area or further afield, such as New York City or Washington, D.C. If you’re interested in a law enforcement career, you can complete our LEAP (Law Enforcement Academy Preparation) microcredential.  All majors are required to complete a capstone experience: either a designated course, senior thesis or an internship.
