Notes:

1. University rules pertaining to curriculum majors also apply to curriculum minors

  • Minor GPA of at least 2.0
  • All courses must be taken for a letter grade unless offered Pass/Fail only
  • One-half (1/2) of the minor coursework must be completed in residence
  • No more than two courses may overlap between/among all majors/minors;  any excess requires additional coursework

2. Check proper course selection, sequence and prerequisite requirements with the department of the minor

  • MUSC 121 Jazz (3 s.h)
  • MUSC 215 Jazz Improvisation (3 s.h.)
  • MUSC 216 Pop and Jazz Piano Styles (3 s.h.)
  • MUSC 280 Music Ensemble (4-12 s.h.)
  • (Two semesters small ensemble – Jazz Octet or Funk Band)
  • (Two semesters large ensemble – Jazz Big Band)
  • MUSC 350 Orchestration (3 s.h.)
  • MUSC 399 Advanced Independent Study (1-6 s.h.)

*Advanced Independent Study culminates in:

  • A public recital
  • A public lecture recital
  • A recording of performance and/or composition/arrangements.
